Job Title: General Manager

Responsible For:

Main Purpose of the Job:
Responsible for managing all areas of operations to ensure revenues, profits and return on investment are maximized; risk is managed and costs controlled, consistent with the budget and business plans

Main duties and accountabilities
• Manage the day-to-day functions of operations with a focus on providing maximum customer satisfaction while achieving operational and sales objectives
• Plan, develop and approve specific operational policies, programmes, procedures and methods with approval from the Board
• Responsible for implementation and proper compliance with various procedures and systems set in the company
• Responsible for fund management – creditors, debtors, stock and overall cashflow of the company
• Develop and execute annual budgets and mid and long term strategic plans
• Work with subordinate department heads to schedule, supervise and direct the work of all employees
• Handle emergencies such as fires, accidents and breaches of security or house rules promptly and in person. Emphasizes prevention through training, inspection and preventive enforcement
• Establish and maintain a pro-active human resource function to ensure employee motivation, training and development, salary and benefits administration and compliance with the established Company policies and labour regulations
• Review and develop marketing and supply activities to improve Company results
• Interface with the Company Clients, Investors, and Board of Directors
• Develop technical, financial and organisational management of the Company
• Develop and maintain market intelligence system with marketing manager to achieve the effective purchasing of feedback and sales of petroleum products
• Ensure the efficient and cost effective operation of the facility while adhering to all EHS and regulatory standards
• Ensure maintenance objectives are achieved including implementation of predictive, preventive, and corrective maintenance works while minimizing facility downtime
• Supervise the planning and execution of annual maintenance campaigns and capital expenditure for the facility
• Maintain and improve good public relations with the customers and suppliers

Person Specification
Qualifications
A minimum required qualification from a relevant tertiary qualification, with MBA in Marketing or Management and relevant professional qualifications

Knowledge & Experience
• Minimum of 5 – 7 years of increasingly responsible positions and is seeking the next challenge in their career
• Demonstrate experience in the management of a team at a professional level
• Effective commercial experience in running a business/ business units
• Should have some knowledge of financial management
• Strong leadership, hands-on management style, cost controls, budgeting experience is a must.
